3. BE LITTER & PLASTIC RESPONSIBLE

Every moment of life is precious. So too is every blade of grass, every flower, every foal, every butterfly, every bear, every salmon, every frog, every owl, every tiger, every worm, every penguin, every bat, every mole, every bee, every coral, every seahorse, every squirrel, every dolphin, every snail, every deer, every platypus.    What will it take for each one of us to to take time, effort and great responsibility to keep the earth clean from our waste, plastic, littering and spoiling?

SAY NO TO PLASTIC BAGS

Instead bring your own!

A cloth one is good as it is lightweight, can be washed and lasts a long time.

BOTTLE YOUR OWN WATER

Buy your own non-plastic water containers, choose your design, remember to take it with you!

REQUEST PLASTIC-FREE PACKAGING

Choose loose veg, buy from bulk food outlets, refuse polystyrene packed take-aways, use your own containers where possible.

SKIP PLASTIC STRAWS

Refuse taking one in a take-away, festival, bar or cafe. Instead do without or bring your own!

AVOID PLASTIC CUTLERY

Do not pick it up! Instead bring your own washable re-usable set when out and about.

People invented plastic and are millions of products from it, but they did not think ahead about it's disposal and how it is creating environmental / wildlife catastrophes.

REDUCE

ReCycle

This is a great place to add a tagline.

Tell customers more about you. Add a few words and a stunning pic to grab their attention and get them to click.

This space is ideal for writing a detailed description of your business and the types of services that you provide. Talk about your team and your areas of expertise.

PICK UP LITTER

Think of a personalised motto which will motivate you for the sake of wildlife such as:

"If I don't pick this up it could end up fed to an Albatross"

"If I don't pick this up it could drown a Bumble Bee"

"If I don't pick this up it could strangle a Seal."

Carry a spare bag with you to put the litter in. Recycle what you can.

Dispose of the rest responsibly.

Remember that the small pieces can also be lethal. Pick up at least 5 pieces a day.

Join a Litter Pick! (also a good way to meet like-minded people and enjoy working together).

Teach children by example, explain why.

The short time it takes you to collect some litter could save untold suffering and is helping to keep our earth, land, sea, mountains beautiful!

DON'T BE TEMPTED TO DROP LITTER!

When people drop litter they are clearly not thinking as to what will become of it. The mentality can only be one of:

  • 'out of sight, out of mind'

  • 'someone else can clear up after me' or

  • 'the earth is my rubbish bin'

And yet that litter frequently does untold harm, even each traps to wildlife, such as:

  • the empty can attracts insects who are attracted by the smell of whatever was in it. They slither in and drown in the dregs of the drink and more follow

  • an empty crisp packet fills up with rainwater. Then a bumble bee flies into it or beetles crawl into it, attracted by the smell, gets trapped and drowns

  • cigarette ends are toxic to wildlife especially if they end up in water.
